I have been potting for over 30 years, starting at an evening class when my children were very little. I loved it from the first time I picked up a lump of clay and realising that the possibilities are endless, set about making a wide range of pots. I primarily handbuild, but take to the wheel to throw my ever-popular Breadpots. Inspiration comes predominantly from nature - coastal colours and textures such as sand, rocks and lichens - and from the beautiful Welsh countryside around me. I often use leaves, stones and shells to add interesting textures and shapes to my pieces. I mainly use textured clays which are either black or pale sand colour.
I make rustic, contemporary ceramics which includes dinnerware, plant pots, tiles, basins, soapdishes and larger bespoke, individually designed collectable pieces. I welcome commissions. Part of my work also involves designing and making ceramics for 2 Michelin star chefs, which is interesting and can be a design challenge that I love.
I run pottery sessions from my workshop near Trefeglwys (with beautiful views), which are fun and relaxed and can be mug making, coiling a pot or a full day making anything you like.
Visitors are welcome to my workshop Monday-Wednesday by appointment and my shop in Llanidloes is open Thursday to Saturday 10am to 4pm.
